So what is wrong with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Allsports thinks much of the problem is in the defense. Toronto's defense has the third highest payroll in the league, behind only Vancouver and Philadelphia and look where they are in the standings. Dion Phaneuf has been anything but what he was advertised as and a 7 million a year is pretty costly for one goal. At least in the last couple of games Phaneuf is getting some good hits in and seems to be playing a bit tougher but still his performance is way lower than the pay slip he gets.
