Did everyone watch game six of the World Series last night? Wow what a battle. The Texas Rangers had the St. Louis Cardinals down to their final strike, not once but twice in the game and still could not put the Cardinals away to claim their first #WorldSeries title.

The Cardinals trailed five times in the game and kept coming back to tie it up. St. Louis native son, #DavidFreese was the hero on a team full of heroes and likely or should get a street named after him. Freese was clutch at the plate. He tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with a two-out, two run triple off Feliz to send the game into extra innings. Then after the cardinals had held the Rangers in the top half of the 11th inning, Freese lead off the bottom half of the inning with a walk off solo home run that pushed the Rangers to a seventh game tonight at Busch Stadium.

The Series is the first to go the full seven games since 2002.

It will be hard for game seven to match the drama of game six.

Major League Baseball's championship trophy

The Texas Rangers had to regroup after the Cardinals and Albert Pujols had hammered them 16-7 in the opener of the series shift to Texas. Their normally reliable bullpen had been lite up by St. Louis on the night and appeared to be in tatters. Texas needed a strong pitching effort in game four and that’s exactly what they got.

Albert Pujols overpowers the Rangers

Major League Baseball's championship trophy

Allsports here with a brief update on the Baseball sports news and sports on the web. So everyone was talking about the Texas Rangers coming home and putting up some big offensive numbers in the World Series. Problem was Albert Pujols and his Cardinal teammates were not listening and they decided to be the ones swinging the bats. Pujols bat woke up in a big way as he banged out five hits, including the fourth three-home run game in World Series history, driving in six runs. He joins Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson on that elite list. It was arguably the greatest single offensive game by a single player in World Series history.

The Texas bats came alive just enough in the top of the ninth inning last night to squeak out a 2-1 victory in St. Louis. They were trailing 1-0 after eight and it looked like LaRussa had pushed the right button again with a pitch hit single to score that run. But Texas with a bloop single, a walk and two sacrifice fly's got just enough to tie the series. http://amplify.com/u/a1f9fa

Allsports thoughts on game one of the #WorldSeries. Tony LaRussa played his bullpen and bench like a virtuoso while Ron Washington was stuck at the back playing the Tuba.

Washington better hope that he wins all the games in Texas when he can use the DH because he is out classed when it comes to managing pitch hitters and the bullpen. Tony LaRussa has all the right moves last night. http://amplify.com/u/a1f6lx

So unless you are on a desert island somewhere and have no way of getting the news and sports, you will likely be aware that the 2011 World Series starts tonight in St. Louis. The visitors will be the Texas Rangers, the American League Champions for the second straight year.

The St. Louis Cardinals will get the home field advantage this year due to the fact that the National League won the all star game  and the league that wins it gets the extra home game in the world series if it is needed. So now that we know the combatants, lets see how they got here.

So if you are keep score at home and you check my previous post you will see that allsports got one of the four series right, which is not very good in the old crystal ball department. But that is why you have to play the games as anything can happen in the wonderful world of sports.

So now lets move on to the League Championship series in the American League and National League. Allsports is a bugger for abuse and will take another kick at the can with his predictions. The boys of summer are not getting much time to lick their wounds as the American League championship starts tonight at 8:05 PM and the National League gets back at it tomorrow at 4:05 PM.

Allsports
Allsports here for an update in the Baseball sports news and sports on the web. So allsports really kind of crapped the bed with his predictions in the opening round of the MLB playoffs. The only team that allsports predicted to get through to the second round was the Detroit Tigers. Well at least the hated New York Yankees got sent home.

Taylor Fedun, Another victim of Touch Icing?

Allsports article on some observations with the new head shot rule, discipline and the need for some interference if the NHL keeps touch icing in the game.

Allsports

Hi everyone, allsports here for some hockey sports news and sports on the web. So what does everyone think about the NHL preseason so far. The new sheriff in town, Brendan Shanahan,  has already been quite busy handing out suspensions and the regular season has not even started yet. Allsports knows what they are trying to accomplish with the new rule on head shots but what I fear might happen is the NHL may become the NCHL (No Contact Hockey League). Players will become afraid to make a hit for fear of getting suspended. All of the responsibility will fall on the hitter while the puck carrier can carry on, on their merry way. I am sorry but some responsibility has to be taken on the part of the puck carrier. If you have to keep looking down to see if the puck is on your stick then maybe you are not a good enough player to be in the league. The puck carrier has to ensure that he is not putting himself in a vulnerable position. Yes the defender has to be aware of hits to the head but the offensive player has to ensure he is not putting himself in a precarious position. Back in the day we were taught two things right off the get go. Keep your stick down on the ice and have your head on a swivel to be aware of everything on the ice. If not someone was going to take your head off.
