Allsports thoughts for sports on the web

So it has been a while since allsports has posted for the sports news and sports on the web. I guess that’s what happens when everyday life gets in the way of finding the time to do a worthwhile post. Something that has a little bit of content that people may find some value in or just get a little enjoyment while reading.

The NHL hands out the Hardware in Las Vegas

The winners of the NHL awards that were handed out in Las Vegas this week. Find out who was honored and for what. Not a bad production other than Bettman being there.

Now that the Stanley Cup has been awarded to the Boston Bruins, the last thing needed to be done before the hockey season comes to a close in the sports news and sports on the web is hand out the hardware to this years winners. The awards ceremony took place in Las Vegas the other night.

Vancouver no match for the Bruins toughness

Allsports article on the Boston Bruins winning Lord Stanley's Mug. Why they won it and what Vancouver did not do to become the Champions. Tim Thomas was the major reason but there were other reasons why Vancouver lost.

Amplify’d from allsportsontheweb.com

So as you have likely heard by now through the sports news or sports on the web, The Boston Bruins have won the honor of being crowned the Stanley Cup Champions for 2011.  Allsports had predicted a Vancouver Canucks victory but alas it was not to be. Bruins goalie Tim Thomas through a giant monkey wrench into that prediction.

It is Do or Die in the Stanley Cup Final

Allsports article on the Stanley Cup Final between Vancouver and Boston going the distance. Can Luongo shake off another bad start and give the Goaltending required for a Stanley Cup Victory. He will need to match the intensity that Tim Thomas brings to the game. Is he up to it? We will see tonight.

Amplify’d from allsportsontheweb.com

Well now it seems that Roberto Luongo and his Vancouver teammates have decided to do things the hard way yet again. Allsports here for an update on the Stanley Cup Final for the sports news and sports on the web. The thing that is most intriguing about the series is the play of Luongo. How can a goalie be so good at home and yet be so porous on the road? As you may have heard Luongo was brutal AGAIN the other night in Boston. I am sure if coach Alain Vigneault had to do it over again he would have taken Don Cherry’s advice and started Cory Schneider for all the games in Boston, Luongo has been that bad.

Mavericks can take the Heat to win the NBA Championship

Allsports article on the Dallas Mavericks taking down the Miami Heat in six games to win their first NBA Championship. Great defense and strong team play did it.

Amplify’d from allsportsontheweb.com

Well allsports does not follow Basketball much in the sports news or sports on the web but when the NBA gets down to crunch time I usually tune in to check some of the game action out. I was rooting for the Dallas Mavericks to take down the Miami Heat (allstars) and they did which was great.

Boston Bruins have their back's to the Wall

Allsports article on the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. One more win will bring the Stanley Cup back to Vancouver for the first time in their 40 year history.

Amplify’d from allsportsontheweb.com

Allsports here for a quick update for Hockey in the sports news and sports on the web. So just what the hell is it with Roberto Luongo and Vancouver home ice? The difference in his play is night and day depending on the east or west coast. In Boston he has not been able to stop a beach ball but at home in Vancouver he puts up a wall and nothing gets by him. A very strange occurrence indeed.   Tim Thomas on the other hand has been great no matter where he plays but his aggressive play did burn him the other night in Vancouver during game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final which Vancouver won 1-0. One goal was the difference again compared to the Boston blow outs. What ever Roberto’s pregame activity is in Vancouver  allsports suggests he do it in Boston. He walked the Vancouver sea wall before game 5 so maybe he should be finding  the sea wall in Boston. The only difference would be the Atlantic Ocean instead of the Pacific.

James Reimer gets a new Deal for a job well done

Allsports article on the Maple Leafs signing James Reimer to a new 1.8 million a year, three year contract. Reimer now gets the chance to become number one in the net

Amplify’d from allsportsontheweb.com

Allsports thought that today since game five in the Stanley Cup Final goes tonight, he would discuss a good move made by his home town Toronto Maple Leafs for the sports news and sports on the web. The move in question was that the Maple leafs have signed James Reimer to a three year, 5.4 million dollar deal. This works out to 1.8 million a season for Reimer. It gives him some security but also does not put a big hit onto the Leafs salary cap. If Reimer performs as he did last year when he was instrumental in the Leafs playoff run that came up just short, he would be a little under paid. But having said that he was also rewarded for only about half a season of service. The three years will give Reimer a chance to refine his craft without the pressure of not knowing where he will end up. The Toronto Brass have given him the reins to steer  the sled he just has to seize them.

Bruins Flex muscle to tie Cup Final heading back to Vancouver

Allsports article on the Boston Bruins winning game four 4-0 to tie up the Stanley Cup Final at 2 games each. Luongo must be much better and match the play of Thomas.

Amplify’d from allsportsontheweb.com

So it was the same result in Boston last night in the sports news and sports on the web. Tim Thomas is making allsports eat crow with his Stanley Cup Final prediction and Roberto Luongo has been missing in action the last two games in Boston. Did the real Roberto Luongo even make the trip east or did Vancouver dress some unknown goalie from the East Coast League? At one point last night Luongo had let in three goals on 13 shots, a pretty crappy save percentage any way you want to look at it.

So some may argue that the Boston Bruins deserved a better fate. They battled Vancouver to a draw after 60 minutes of hockey. The problem was they were asleep at the switch when overtime began.

Boston turned the puck over and Alex Burrows (in allsports opinion the best player on the ice last night) made them pay a heavy price, out waiting Tim Thomas to curl the puck around and into an empty net 11 seconds into overtime to put Vancouver into the drivers seat up 2-0 in games heading back to Boston for games 3 & 4 http://amplify.com/u/a14lnp

Jose Bautista, Money well spent for the Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking good now for getting Jose Bautista signed up for a 5 year term. The contract is a Bargain my Major League Baseball standards.

So does anyone else out there think that Jose Bautista is
making Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos look like an astute judge of
talent these days. Anthopoulos signed Bautista to a 5 year, 64 million dollar deal
in the off season, huge numbers for us working stiffs but a bargain by baseball
standards considering the numbers he is putting up this year, proving that last
year’s 54 home run season was no fluke.

So the first game of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final is in the books and Vancouver squeaked out a 1-0 victory. Both Tim Thomas and Roberto Luongo were stellar in the net stopping all 69 shots they faced between them.

Thomas's only problem was the 70th shot which beat him with 19 seconds left in the 3rd period. Up until that point it had been a goalkeeping clinic. Third line winger Raffi Torres scored the only goal of the game. http://amplify.com/u/a14epj
