Canada advances to Spengler Cup final

Team Canada has advanced to the final of the Spengler Cup with a 4-0 win over HC Davos in their semi final tilt. Canada must have learned something from their 3-2 round robin loss to Davos because they dominated the Swiss side and held them to very few scoring chances in the shutout victory.

Team Canada will now play Russian powerhouse, SKA St. Petersburg from the KHL in the final later this morning.

The tournament was first held in 1923 and is referred to as the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world

Canada is off to a good start as they also beat the Russians on Boxing Day 6-3. Their special teams have really done a good job so far accounting for 8 of the 13 goals they have scored.

The Spengler Cup is also being contested right now over in Switzerland. Canada opened with a 6-1 win over the Russian side but trails Davos, the home side 3-2 going into the 3rd period.

The NHL is back in high gear and the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Carolina Hurricanes at the ACC tonight.
